We are pleased to introduce an NHLA member, Stephanie Wheeler. Let’s take this opportunity to learn more about Stephanie.
We asked Stephanie to tell us a little about herself. She has a complex and impressive position with huge responsibilities with Boyd Gaming.
I am currently Boyd Gaming’s Vice President of Revenue Management. We oversee the hotel pricing for the enterprise. Whether that be group sales, transient or OTA customers or our casino guests, we set the rates or comp levels for all 19 hotels.
NHLA Women in Lodging is a great benefit to its members because it allows us to network but also support each other. We have fun events that allow us to take a break from work, home life and everything else. We get to laugh, learn more about each other, vent our struggles and just support each other. Women supporting women is always a great.
Stephanie’s biggest influence
My biggest influence is my father. He, too, was a hotelier and we were able to travel the world through his work and live overseas. His passion for guest service and building a great team are the important things that always stuck with me. He loved his craft, culinary and loved to teach his team. These strong relations allowed him to grow and he always had a flock of people that were willing to take a chance and move half way around the world for him. This was my first taste of the work family and these are people that are still a part of our lives today. In fact, one of my dad’s cooks had worked his way up to be the Executive Chef at the property I got married at. Imagine the poor CSMs face when the Executive Chef walked in to the BEO review.
Where would Stephanie like to vacation someday?
My ultimate vacation would be New Zealand and Fiji. Hike all the beautiful sites of New Zealand and then be a beach bum in Fiji in an over the water bungalow. Maybe be able to get some diving in but overall, relax.
Thank you, Stephanie, for sharing some info about yourself. Everyone is looking forward to meeting you in person.
