August is typically a busy month for everyone, particularly for those parents who have children returning to school or entering college. With juggling work, end of summer activities and new horizons for the family, time has great value.
At NHLA, we provide resources and activities that are relevant to the industry and our members. August brings activities to our busy members that will be valuable.

First, we have the beginning of our Q3 WIL Read to Lead book club. Monique Maklhouf, Director of Learning and Development with Soleil Management, will lead participants through “Girl Wash your Face” written by Rachel Hollis. The book club is open to all WIL members and meets three times. The first meeting is August 8 at Tahiti Village at 6:00 p.m. The mid-session meeting takes place at Panevino’s Lounge on August 29 and the final group meeting is September 19 at Ricardo’s Restaurant. The activity is designed to create leadership skills, engage discussion, develop industry contacts, and be a fun experience. No one is under pressure to speak, no one is “called upon”…everything is completely on a friendly, voluntary basis. Join us, Be comfortable and go through the book with the group.

On August 15, the Q3 WIL Leadership Chat will take place at Palazzo with guest host Jaime Miranda presenting her career journey and experience. Jaime is the Vice President of Hotel Operations-Luxury Services for Venetian/Palazzo and has successfully risen through the ranks. She will talk about challenges she has faced along with tips for success. She is also our WIL council chairperson this year and assists with many activities such as the philanthropy committee and other activities.

A fun business writing workshop will be presented by Ronna Timpa on August 23 for our NNV members. The event will take place at the Atlantis from 9:00-11:30 a.m. This is not a typical boring writing class…it is filled with useful tips along with some laughs along the way. Register.
