The National Cowboy Poetry Gathering is in its 31st year of celebrating the ranching environment in the rural west. Presenting the challenges of ranching life in a poetic and beautiful form of artistic expression is accomplished at this event to the delight of the many attendees.

Activities abound for the cowboy in everyone
Thousands of visitors travel to Elko, a rural town in central Nevada. Cowboy culture is presented through various activities and performances. Dancing, music, story-telling, exhibits and poetry highlight the festival in the heart of winter.
Basque food is a traditional cuisine in cowboy country and can be enjoyed at the poetry gathering. How about a Buckaroo Brew? You’ll find it here, too.
Where to find the action
The performers, musicians and poets appear on stage at three different venues including the Western Folklife Center’s G Three Bar Theatre and Pioneer Saloon, the Flag View Intermediate School Auxiliary Building, and the Elko Convention Center. Single day or three day passes can be purchased.
