Do you Dress for Success?

A Dress for Success Fashion Show and panel discussion hosted by the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association will take place tonight. The show is a Women in Lodging event.  The theme for WIL this year is “Developing your Professional Personal Brand” and this is one related event of many scheduled this year.

Dress for Success features models from the local Dress for Success Southern Nevada organization and designer clothing provided by Cintas.

The WIL Dress for Success event is being held at the Bootlegger Copa Room and will begin at 5:00 p.m. Networking takes place until 6:00 p.m. at which time the show kicks off.

Mary Giuliano, WIL Chairperson, will open the activities and introduce our emcee, Finley Cotrone, for the evening. Finley is a learning and leadership development professional who has lived a life of service for over 20 years. Faculty at The Harrah College of Hotel Administration at UNLV, Finley is an accomplished facilitator with expertise in leadership and management development, emotional intelligence, service culture development, and coaching.

Dress for Success Panel Participants

Following the fashion show a panel of leading women from the hospitality industry will participate in an interactive discussion on the importance of career appearance and presentation.

Shannon McCallum, Executive Director of Hotel Operations, Aria Resort and Casino

Shannon was the recipient of the 2015 coveted Hotelier of the Year award at the Stars of the Industry Awards Gala. Shannon is responsible for the execution of service standards for the Hotel Operations, inclusive of the following departments: Front Desk, Concierge, Reservations, Guest Relations, Ticket Office, Showroom, Wedding Chapel, Business Services, Housekeeping, Telecommunications, Uniforms, Vending, Game Room and Minibar departments. She is also charged with implementing strategies to further enhance the guest experience.

Mary Giuliano, General Manager, Vdara Hotel and Spa

Mary is the General Manager of Vdara Hotel and Spa, a 1,495-all suite, non-gaming, smoke-free, eco-friendly boutique condo hotel and is responsible for the strategic planning and brand positioning of this luxury property. Her hospitality career spans over 25 years. Prior to her current role, Mary served as the Vice President of Residential Operations for the CityCenter Residential Division where she established homeowner association management practices and luxury service programs for the residences at Mandarin Oriental, Vdara, and Veer.  Previous to her work at CityCenter, Mary was the Vice President of Hotel Operations at Treasure Island (TI).  While in this capacity, she oversaw all aspects of Hotel Operations and Guest Services and guided the property’s rebranding initiatives. Mary was also on the opening team for The Mirage and Treasure Island and was an inaugural MAP Graduate (Management Associate Program).

Paula Lawrence is the Executive Director for Dress for Success Southern Nevada, the local affiliate of an international non-profit organization that promotes the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. At Dress for Success Southern Nevada, Paula is responsible for all daily operations, fundraising, client programs, community relations and compliance.

Dr. Toni Repetti, UNLV William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration

Toni Repetti, Ph.D. is an Assistant Professor for undergraduate and graduate finance, accounting, and gaming courses in the William F. Harrah College of Hotel Administration at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She has been teaching at UNLV since 2012 after a year as the University of Central Florida as an Assistant Professor. In addition to UNLV courses, Mrs. Repetti also teaches online courses and seminars for UNLV’s International Gaming Institute and Professional & Leadership Studies. Toni Repetti’s research interests are in managerial finance, revenue and profit management, and operations with an emphasis on the effect management decisions have on revenue and net income.
