Marixell Garcia joined the U.S. Foreign Commercial Service in May 2015 and is currently assigned to the U.S. Export Assistance Center (USEAC) in Las Vegas, Nevada. Some of the sectors she covers as part of her portfolio include, Travel & Tourism, Healthcare, Design & Construction, Apparel, as well as other consumer related industries. With regards to the tourism industry, she is actively involved in promoting the State of Nevada, as well as the City of Las Vegas, as premiere travel destinations amongst international delegates attending some of the International Buyer Programs or trade shows sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce.

She also works very closely with her Foreign Commercial Service (FCS) colleagues overseas at our embassies in conjunction with the Visit USA Committees organizing different travel and tourism related events and trade missions in the different countries , while also trying to attract foreign direct investment.
Impressive Career
Prior to becoming a Foreign Commercial Service Officer, she worked as a Senior Business Executive in the Corporate & Multinational Division of a Regional Bank with a presence in 12 different countries. Ms. Garcia also worked for State Department as a Commercial Specialist at the U.S. Embassy in Nicaragua for eight years, working closely with several FCS posts throughout Central America, as well as numerous USEACs. One of her first positions shortly after obtaining her Bachelor’s Degree was serving as a Consultant for the Interamerican Development Bank (IDB) in order to develop a National Export Promotion Strategy. Ms. Garcia has a Master’s Degree in International Trade and a Double Mayor in Business Administration, with concentrations in Economics & Finance, as well as minor in English Literature. She is married and has two sons.
