Kristen is the Business Development Manager with UNLV and is an active member in NHLA and Women in Lodging. Kristen was recently appointed to the WIL leadership council. We recently had the opportunity to talk with Kristen and learn more about her.
Tell us what your role at UNLV entails.
My role: Business Development Manager at the UNLV Harrah College of Hospitality. Since 2016, I’ve worked in an exciting division of the College called the Sands Center for Professional Development, which was named in recognition of a $4.5 million gift donated by the Las Vegas Sands Corporation. The Sands Center is an academic learning resource for hospitality organizations interested in non-degreed, custom, certificate-based education delivered in-person, by webinar or online at:

My primary responsibility is to cultivate relationships with hospitality companies for those seeking executive education opportunities.
What do you find valuable about being a member of NHLA Women in Lodging?
So many reasons! I enjoy learning about industry trends, the feeling of being empowered by these strong, like-minded women and the activities offered are both relevant and fun!
Tell us something unique about you.
I played on the basketball team for my alma mater, Syracuse University, just kidding, I’m 4’10,” which is quite a distinctive height!
What was your favorite job & why?
My current position is my favorite! I earned my master’s degree from UNLV and never dreamed that I could work for the institution that set the tone, for me, with life-long learning. My master’s degree still helps me to solve the problems I encounter today. Since my career is in business development, and I have a passion for education, this is the best position for me: collaborating with hospitality professionals so they receive the educational tools to aspire to the next phase of their career.
In closing, Kristen, why should our members join Women in Lodging?
If you are looking for an industry networking association with friendly, outgoing women who simply want the best for each other, then join Women in Lodging!
