Timothy M. Lam is a founder and Executive Director of The International School of Hospitality (TISOH) in Las Vegas, Nev. Since the school’s inception 10 years ago, Tim has become an award-winning national figure in the hospitality industry, taking on leadership positions in some of the largest industry associations in the country.
Tim’s experience includes hospitality consulting, hotel operations at Caesars Palace and international marketing in Washington, D.C. He has co-authored numerous articles on education and hospitality and holds a Master’s degree in Hotel Administration from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, a Master’s of International Business degree from the University of South Carolina and a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Wake Forest University. He is also a Certified Hospitality Trainer (CHT) and Certified Guest Service Professional (CGSP).

Tim’s work at TISOH has propelled the school onto the global stage with an innovative and practical approach to teaching, mentoring and training hospitality professionals and putting them on track to lead future generations in the field. His efforts have resulted in a job placement rate of close to 90 percent for TISOH’s diploma graduates. As Executive Director of TISOH, he has also led the school’s efforts to partner with national industry associations, making inroads for students and giving employers in the industry an avenue to shape the curriculum for their future workforce. TISOH is now an academic partner of the American Hotel Lodging Educational Institute.
Tim’s International Influence
Tim is fluent in Chinese, and has worked to strengthen relationships between TISOH and major hotels and resorts abroad, as well. He has pioneered relationships with schools in Mexico for immersion courses. Additionally, the school’s outreach to international students has brought students to TISOH from countries such as Indonesia, Mongolia, Spain, Bahamas, Lebanon, Panama, Honduras and more.
Mr. Lam’s rapport and tireless collaboration with industry leaders, associations and academia has led a landmark professional certification course for hotel concierge, which launched in 2015. This undertaking, in partnership with Les Clefs d’Or USA and the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), created the Certified Hotel Concierge (CHCSM) credential, which is now a global professional standard for hotel concierges.
Timothy’s Awards and Designations
Fittingly, Tim has won numerous awards and honors, among them distinction from the National Association for Catering and Events (NACE), including the 2013 Legacy Spotlight Member. He was on the 2011 President List of NACE. Tim also won the 2008 and 2011 Spirit of NACE Award, Las Vegas Chapter and the 2011 and 2012 Volunteer Excellence Award. Tim currently is the President of the Foundation of NACE and sits on the Board of the Nevada Restaurant Association.
