April Kemper is the Front Office Manager for the Hilton Garden Inn Reno. Originally from a Food and Beverage background, she started out as a dishwasher at the only pizza place in her hometown of Running Springs California.
April continued in the F&B industry by working at Outback Steakhouse while attending college at the University of California Riverside. Eventually she moved to BJ’s Brewhouse where she attended their GM training program before her relocation to Nevada.
April transitioned into full time accounting when she moved from Southern California to the wonderful city of Reno and took a job with the Peppermill. After 10 years of hotel and casino accounting experience between Peppermill and Wyndham properties she made the transition into hotel management.

Utilizing all experience
April finds that the 10 years of F&B experience, plus the 10 years in accounting, really helps with the overall demands of a select service hotel. In her non-work time she is a mother to her daughter Johnnye Bartlett who is about to start her final year in High School and can’t wait to move to start college.
She is a newlywed to her husband Brian who recently achieved his CPA certification. She spends her time with her family, 2 dogs, 2 cats, and her camera. She has been involved in many nonprofit organizations including Girl Scouts where she was an event coordinator and service unit leader for all of south Reno. April also served on the board of directors for The Sparks Piranhas Swim Team where she was the Vice President. She was in charge of Special Events including the annual awards banquet and many swim meets.
April finds inspiration in all things, enjoys being a mentor to her team, and being mentored by her GM Jeff Pearson. Her goal is to make the most out of every day; she also enjoys a good problem to solve.
April appointed to the Women in Lodging Council
“April has accepted the Northern Nevada position on our Women in Lodging council,” states Diane Gandy, NHLA President. “She will be instrumental in helping us ensure we are providing resources, education and assistance for our NNV WIL members. We look forward to working with her.”
