Several 2019 activities have already been scheduled for the NHLA Women in Lodging division for the first half of the year. With over 200 members in this group and growing, NHLA will provide leadership development, networking and philanthropic activities in the coming year.

In January, the new WIL Read to Lead Book Club will launch. The club will focus on reading leadership development books that offer ideas and guidance to apply to our own professional and personal lives. The sessions will be casual, fun and productive. Register online at nvhotels.com to participate.
The WIL mentor session will start January 29 and participation registration is now open. We will meet at Ricardo’s Restaurant on West Flamingo for happy hour in the lounge at 5:30 p.m. for our participants to meet and for us to go over the program. Experienced women should consider participating as a mentor, sharing your ideas, challenges and guidance with women looking to expand their horizons. Women interested in meeting key leaders and learning about new areas should sign up as a mentee. Over 200 women have gone through the NHLA WIL mentor programs and all have thoroughly enjoyed it and found it very productive. Sign up.

The quarterly WIL Leadership Chats that launched mid-year have become quite popular. The chats that will be taking place in 2019 include the following:
February 20, Chondra Allison, SVP Sales for the Venetian/Palazzo, will be our host. She will share her experience in a high level position for one of the most visible and respected hotel companies in the world. We will meet in the Prestige Lounge at Palazzo at 5:30 p.m. Sign up now, space is limited to the first 25 WIL members to register.
In May, Shannon McCallum, VP Hotel Operations at Mandalay Bay, will host our Q2 Leadership Chat. Shannon is an accomplished and highly respected leader in our industry as well as a founder of the NHLA Women in Lodging division.
Jaime Miranda, Executive Director of Hotel Operations at Venetian/Palazzo, will host the Q3 Leadership Chat in August. Jaime actually came up with the concept for the Leadership Chats in addition to many other great ideas for WIL. She was awarded Outstanding Women in Lodging Member of the Year at the recent NHLA Stars of the Industry Hospitality Awards Gala.
On November 6, Chris Breed, Vice President of Operations for Soleil Management, will host our Q4 Leadership Chat at Tahiti Village. Chris is an officer on the NHLA Board of Directors, serves as Vice Chairperson for the WIL Leadership Council and serves on the Board of Trustees for the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation. She has an extensive career in hospitality leadership and she will share her journey with us.
