Scientific Proof of Smoking Removes Ambiguity for Hoteliers

Our guest blog today is presented by FreshAir. Learn about clear and convincing evidence of smoking from FreshAir Sensor to enforce no-smoking policies.

No-smoking enforcement in hotels is notoriously difficult due to the high burden of proof. Smoking odors and even the presence of smoking materials are often insufficient to charge smoking fees, particularly when met with cunning guests.

Scientific proof of smoking removes this ambiguity for hotel operators. As the only technology available to specifically monitor for, immediately detect, and prove tobacco and marijuana smoking, FreshAir smoking detection devices and smoking alerts provide the needed scientific proof. Data-driven smoking alerts streamline policy enforcement and ease communication between hoteliers and their guests.

Unlike traditional smoke detectors that indiscriminately indicate any particles, FreshAir’s novel and patented sensors bind only with specific molecules that are present when someone is actively smoking tobacco or marijuana. FreshAir sensors are not fooled by candles, incense, dust, pollen, steam, or other non-smoking sources. When clients receive FreshAir smoking alerts, they have reliable, stand-alone proof of the smoking incident. Each smoking alert is also sent with a downloadable report including a timestamped chart of the incident data and the guest room number.

In the event of a disputed smoking fee, hoteliers can file the smoking report alongside the registration card to win the chargeback. One casino hotel client reports:

“It was NOT easy to collect smoking penalties before we got the FreshAir Sensor smoking detection system. We collect deposits from guests at check-in, but half the time we lost the chargeback. We have had zero problems with the credit card companies since we installed FreshAir in our rooms.”

After its first six months of using FreshAir Sensor, the hotel added over $20,000 per month in additional revenue even after a reduction in smoking violations. The smoking alert and report provide immediate evidence of unauthorized smoking to ease client interactions, fully enforce its no-smoking policies, and collect smoking fees.

FreshAir scientific proof

Scientific proof of smoking from FreshAir provides a data-driven solution to smoking prevention and enforcement. Hotels rely on the evidence provided by smoking alerts for fee collection, operational efficiency, and cost reduction. They save on cleaning, minimize lost revenue, and improve guest satisfaction. FreshAir technology and proof work effectively for hotel operators to confidently enforce their no-smoking policies.
