Our guest blogger today is Jyll Brink, with Boca Terry. Jyll is highly experienced and knowledgeable about the industry’s needs and shares some good advice for hotel and purchasing leaders about cotton.
Just as we thought shipping and cotton increases had hit the ceiling, the cotton industry has just implemented additional increases.
Compared to April, 2020 (Pre-Covid) cotton was hovering at $.74/#. Now it is $1.42/#.
As a vendor, Boca Terry has lived through the ups and downs of the cotton market…holding our prices over the years, as costs usually level off.
2020-2022 has shown us unprecedented increases.
This graph shows the trend is still steadily climbing…
Boca Terry, along with all vendors manufacturing Cotton based products, have been forced to raise prices, a number of times, and it looks like a new one is on the horizon.
On a positive note, we have seen shipping costs leveling off in the last few weeks.
Vendors are doing all we can to work with the mills, to control these increases, looking for alternative cotton blended products to offer our clients, until all costs get back to normal (or close to what they were).
Suggestion: speak with your vendors. See what alternative products are available that will work within your budget, at least for the time being.
More updates will follow as we see any significant changes.
Thank you, Jyll, for an important update. Our members can meet Jyll at the HDEXPO later this month. Boca Terry will be exhibiting at booth #3368.
