The Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association Women in Lodging chapter is actively involved in two charitable organizations supporting women in the Las Vegas area.
The WIL philanthropy committee is working closely with Dress for Success Southern Nevada and The Shade Tree shelter for abused women, children and pets. Activities and events that provide resources and support for these two amazing entities will be the focus of the philanthropy committee and the Nevada WIL chapter.
Bring a Bag on March 22
Our first activity involves our upcoming WIL event on March 22. “Developing and Honing Networking Skills” will be presented by master networker and local celebrity Danny Vegas. Danny will discuss how to network productively and not waste time. We are asking attendees to Bring a Bag…a handbag/purse for donation to the Shade Tree. The entity provides clothing for women going for interviews and jobs but they run short on the handbags. We all know a handbag completes the professional appearance. Clean out your closet and bring a bag or two (or more) to this fun WIL event and help women through their challenges of getting into the workforce and leading their new lives.
Shoes and accessories for Dress for Success
The next philanthropic event will be in conjunction with our April 26 Women in Lodging luncheon at the Orleans. We are hosting a donation drive for shoes and accessories for Dress for Success Southern Nevada. The shoes should be for professional appearance and can be pumps, peep toe shoes, dress wedges or flats. Accessories include necklaces, bracelets, ear rings, scarves and belts. Sign up to attend the luncheon where Cathy Tull, Senior VP of Marketing with LVCVA, will be our guest presenter.
Bowling for fun and a great cause
The 3rd Annual Hospitality Bowling Tournament will take place on June 22 at the Orleans Bowling Center. The Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association and the Nevada Restaurant Association will co-host the event which promises to be a lot of fun and networking for participants again this year. Proceeds from the bowling event will benefit The Shade Tree. Sponsorships are available and most appreciated. Sponsor, bowl and have a great time with colleagues and friends while providing resources for our community.
