The Annual Great Chef Run 5K is days away! Hundreds of hospitality and community members will fill the James Regional Park with a sea of chefs running, walking or jogging along with a ton of fun for everyone on April 26!
Despite our name, you don’t have to be a Chef, you don’t have to be Great and you don’t have to Run. Anyone can enter whether a runner or walker, hospitality industry colleague or not as this is a unique local fundraising event that raises funds to support hospitality students in Nevada.
This is our opportunity to give back to our state’s largest industry that we so proudly serve as both an association – Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association – and the foundation. The first 3 years, the Great Chef Run generated $100,000 in scholarships that the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation was pleased to give out for many students as they pursue education or career advancement in hospitality. Recipients of the scholarships are invited to an upscale reception where we celebrate their achievements and grant the scholarships.
Registration includes a well-organized and fun race as well as an incredible goodie bag full of all the supplies you need to look the part including our signature Chef Coat tech t-shirt and Chef Hat and sponsor swag worth over $150!
We also have amazing food at the finish line provided by our Finish Food sponsors, Fontainebleau, and free coffee thanks to Vim Coffee Caterers. And don’t forget about our super fun raffle filled with wonderful prizes.
Come and join in the fun and run, jog or walk our scenic 5k course at the James Regional Park located at 8400 W Robindale Rd, Las Vegas, NV 89113. The fun doesn’t end after the race. A range of delicious tasty treats created by some of the best chefs in our city, entertainment from nightclub DJs and a wide range of vendors will be waiting for our participants to enjoy!
Our Great Chef Run manager, aka Head Chef, Donald Bowman, works day and night the few months before this event right up to the day of the race in coordinating thousands of details, securing sponsors, attending public events and ensuring the event is one of the most successful in the country. “We are so grateful for Donald’s leadership and support. We came up with this idea just a few years ago and Donald, an avid runner himself, took on the huge responsibility of overseeing the many facets of the race. Our appreciation for all of his contribution is enormous!,” states Diane Gandy, President of the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Association and founder of the Nevada Hotel and Lodging Foundation. “We are also so thankful to our Great Chef Run committee, NHLA members for participating, our sponsors for supporting year after year and the community for helping us provide scholarships to hospitality students through this major event.”
